Last November saw me alongside fifteen other authors published in The Crux Anthology. This is Rachael’s story on how it unfolded.
“Deep into the darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” Edgar Allan Poe.
“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” Louis L’Amour
There was once a short story competition. The winners now find themselves about to be published. Some for the very first time….
“Let me say it again: You must not come lightly to the blank page.” Stephen King
“I would get a lot of writing done if I lived in isolation in a cave under a swamp.” Claire Cameron.
“I have passed your letter on to my lawyer, a restraining order will shortly be in place. Let that be the end of it. What wonderful madness.” Glenn Gregory, Heaven 17.
Writing can be a very lonely pursuit. For an unpublished author this can be a critical time where self-confidence is challenged irrationally.
“Deja vu is an underrated tool of the subconscious. It is, if you like, a psychic alarum suggesting reality has fluxed.” On Chronomancy, Jeremiah Delalande.
“The field surgeon has one great enemy in battle. Halflings, dwarves, elves and humans all live inside it. A barrier between innards and evisceration.” Know your organs 1st Edition, Rasmus Greybeard.
