Are you A writer? Then Join #BlogBattle this October and Spin Us A Tale.

Calling all writers and wordsmiths. #BlogBattle is back so come join our community and see where the prompts take you.

Let’s face it, any writing is better than no writing. If the WIP is draining the will to drink coffee, step out and try something totally different.

Engage with authors and writers and the rewards will speak for themselves.

Each month there is a new prompt. Entries are welcome any time up to the end of that month. 1000 words is a maximum, not a target. Any genre, any writing.

Go on, read on then spin us a yarn.

You can start writing at any time, but make sure you post your story by the 30th of the month to be put in the running to be highlighted by your friendly, incorrigible encouraging Blog Battle admins!

Once you’ve posted your story to your blog, put a link to it in the comments section, and we’ll add your story to the Battle Stories Line-up post.

Make sure to check back and read some of the stories of your fellow battlers. Leave comments to encourage these writers, and share each other’s stories!

The battler who is chosen in a given month will have the opportunity to be interviewed!

October 2018 Blog Battle

Our word this month is:

Cave

ANY PHOTOS INCLUDED WITH THE PROMPT ARE ONLY FOR YOUR BENEFIT AS A PINCH OF INSPIRATION. THEY DON’T NEED TO DICTATE YOUR THEME OR STORY GENRE. ONLY THE WORD OF THE MONTH COUNTS! PHOTOS ARE THANKS TO VARIOUS PHOTOGRAPHERS FROM UNSPLASH.COM

You can start writing at any time, but make sure you post your story by the 30th of the month to come into the running for featured writer by your friendly, incorrigible  encouraging Blog Battle admins!

The featured writer is by no means the ultimate story of the month. We are trying to develop a supportive community, increase engagement and shout out battlers.  To do this we need to pick one of our regular participants and give them a spotlight. The aim is to rotate who this is and give them exposure on social media.

Once you’ve posted your story to your blog, put a link to it in the comments section on the following link and we’ll add your story to the Battle Stories Line-up post.

Link your story here for pingbacks or post the URL to it.

Make sure to check back and read some of the stories of your fellow battlers. Leave comments to encourage these writers, and share each other’s stories!

  1. can’t jump on this because October is over already…this would have been fun and an opportunity to make up for the a to z challenge that held in april (which I did not complete)

    1. Fear not! November’s prompt is already scheduled for publishing 😂😂

The A to Z is tough mind. Don’t think of not completing it as a negative. Time and life can easily take precedence over things like that. I often bang on about that sort of thing during NaNoWriMo. Both that and the A to Z demand huge tracts of time we can’t always supply. It’s one reason we moved BlogBattle from weekly to monthly. 1000 words being a maximum and NOT a target. It gives people an opportunity to do any length of writing up to their. It’s also no longer competitive in the sense of winner and voting. We want folk to join in and get feedback and build up a community. Early days at present mind 😊

        1. That they can and I’m right in the midst of both of those issues now! I need to reset my time plan to create space to write methinks. November’s prompt goes live on the main BlogBattle site in five days. I duplicate it here the day after. Really hope you can join in 😊

  2. Words or writing prompts are definitely a major kick sometimes to get out of the writer’s block and start writing. Great initiative Gary, hoping to chip in sometime here 🙂

    1. Thanks Ani, I’ve had quite a break recently and will get back to commenting as well as sharing once my routine kicks in again. Prompts are, as you say, a great boost to keep writing too. I’m using them as back story development for a WIP. Linda Hill also runs Stream of Concious Saturday with a similar idea, but a bit shorter as it’s very quick with prompts coming out the day before.

Be awesome to see you trying this though. The next prompt comes out the first Tuesday of November. 1000 words is a maximum, not a target too. Very flexible 😊

  3. I failed to get a submission in for September, but am definitely going to do my best to get in on the writing action in October! Thanks for the reminder!

    1. Don’t like that word lol. You merely had insufficient time and had other priorities yes!! I’ve got ahead and scheduled mine for tomorrow! Kind of amazed as I’m usually lastminute.com 🤔

        1. One tries to be positive! Not been easy this month though alas, well last month as it’s now October already!!! Looking forward to reading yours though 😊
