Not Quite a Meet and Greet…

image

This is to all my fine readers and followers; accolades, apology and an invitation to network far and wide…

Accolades

Praise where it’s due and anyone taking the time to read this has got to be worthy of that, purely on the grounds of endurance. I have accrued new followers and friends on various social media platforms, without whom I would not be here now with the big shiny ‘thanks’ image above. They say, “A picture paints a thousand words,” so I shall say no more and simply share a quote from JFK.

“We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.”

This is me making time in this post to thank you.

Apology

I know some might be here to seek the next instalment of my writing; be it new, or a continuation of the paranormal brothers whose plight hangs in the balance during the last instalment;

Elisabeth Awakens

I will apologise to you first because, no doubt the post notification lured you in under false pretences. I proffer the excuse of a two week hiatus to a dark place inhabited with new ideas and an urge to redo an older post for the new, and old, audiences that may have missed it.

To everyone else;

Bloggers that have followed me recently that I have not returned the favour to, I blame time. There is not enough to keep up. It is not a deliberate sleight and I will, in a moment of mindfulness attempt to catch up. The easy way is to just hit ‘follow’. I find that disrespectful if you have invested time to find my rambles and link up.

Facebook author followers; you are a divine bunch for liking my page. Like here it has been neglected. Accept my apologies; the authors mind is quite inside itself at times. Sometimes good, often sinking under the auspices of ‘This sucks,’ and always wandering in strange worlds.

Twitter; mad bunch you are. I have yet to work out how it all functions. Retweets on…

The Monks of War

…are awesome. No idea how to go about thanking individuals for that yet. I see ‘Thanks for the RT’ all over, but my notifications seem not to be overly helpful on an iPad, apart from saying tweets have been re-tweeted. One day it will make sense; Lists are next. I’m not ignoring you; just in ignorance of the ways of being a Twit; although phrased like that I suspect I am, in fact, a Grand Master!

Invitation

Shameless self promotion in action.

Terrible really after the opening gambit of an apology for absentia!!

Finally, this is for you dear reader. There will be something from the dark places by weeks end. If I can find the mojo, then we shall see if the Brothers Carmichael can be added to. How long that might take depends on whether other voices wish to share their tales.

It’s noisy here at times. Silence falls only when the antagonists step forwards, especially near the start of a project. For some reason no protagonists are keen to attract attention there…no volunteers for the away team red shirt, as it were.

  2. You have become so popular and there is a reason for that. Even when you feel you have pulled out every bit of fantasy, wit, wonder and terror from their hiding places; another bud appears and commences growing with the rich fictionisfood. You are an old tree with years to bring all those buds to twigs and twigs to branches. You wobble in the wind sometimes and need time off for your roots to dig a bit deeper. And then you come back with something that no one is expecting. I know you surprise yourself sometimes. You have so much inside you that needs to get out for others to enjoy. There is a bit of jealousy wrapped through and around these accolades. As much as I want and wish to share the wonders of your mind; I have lost my professor. I am not giving up, writing is part of me now. I have a few people that I can thank, but you are the one who could put things out so I understood. Be careful, sir. You are on track to getting what you wanted, but as we know, nothing good ever comes without some kind of loss. Don’t lose yourself before you get there. NOW I want another chapter! LOL

    1. In the words of an ENT, “That’s uncommonly kind of you.” Which, is on topic with your reference to trees, although I often can’t see the wood for them either…not that I ever really understood that old phrase. I mean, a wood is trees ergo no trees and you’d still not see a wood. I digress.
Another chapter though…this is a hard one. Long and long ago were these snippets turned into words. My next piece will be on something else to get me blogging again. Well, not new as such but Dead Man Walking was an older few posts. I like that and may put up the fuller chapter on Wayland. Yes, another project cast into the frying pan. Everything hinges on two flipping pages. The Synopsis…book title in waiting for there is true horror in that one!

Thank you Julie for the encouragement. Really appreciate it 😊

    1. Judging by the diversity of blogging tools she posts our previous conclusion has to be true….clones….hundreds of them…all over…thanks for the pep talk too. Balance is a real thing to trip up on!

        1. Scary thought!!! I’m not sure I could cope with being a wildly succesful blogger…being a less than average one is hard enough!!!

Obviously the favour will be returned if one see a grim settling…but, I have a confession….my email box was huge and a mass delete to reset it seems also to have purged your last email….I found this out as I went to reply 😱

            1. No, no…one more thing to be self annoyed at. Actual non bot emails demand proper replies and in this case it is epic fail 🤕

                1. Thank you. I shall make amends it Time stops stealing minutes and Janice clones stop showing me new things I’m not doing !!!

  3. Be kind to yourself. Your post is kind to your readers. We understand. Life is crazy. Time is precious. We will wait excitedly for your next installment of awesomeness!

    1. Sound advice as ever. However, I must ensure connections with bloggers and readers remains a priority. The break has allowed me to reset the balance. Thank you my friend for such a kind comment !

  4. I’m just a mom blogger that writes about life stories and motherhood. I love reading some good blogs for hobby and learning. English is my second language, but I embrace it and dare to write anyways 🙂 I really like to visit your site once in a while and will try to add you on Twitter 🙂
    mirrorsoul.org and GriniaB

    1. Thanks for dropping in and even more thanks for reading and commenting. Will try and hook up on Twitter too. Have to say though, I’d never have guessed English is your second language from this !!!!

        1. I drop into Twitter mist days, a few lines and retweets are way easier than blog posts!! That said, I love blogging. The community here is awesome. That was something I never expected as I dropped my first post in January after two years of having this blog but not using it. Looking forward to connecting 😊

  5. Hi Gary’s Community,
Gary, you are a great guy, and a great community member. You don’t know anyone an apology for anything.
Hi everybody I am Janice. I offer blogging tips at my site. My most recent article explained how you can get over 600 Page views to your blog Or website within a matter of hours.
    Here is the link http://wp.me/p6x6vQ-2Sm

    1. I’m not sure about that Janice lol…I owe you one for a protracted absence on yours for a start!! Still haven’t worked out why I’m not getting replies to your replies on my reply…if you follow lol

Thanks for the link too !

  6. I have to “Hands up” here, I also have facebook and twitter and I really do get confused some days, but it is connected to my blog, I struggle on, make loads of mistakes but this seems to be the way I am learning……………the hard way,but feel really good when something works !! Thanks for this opportunity have a good weekend

    1. Good to see you Brook, being out of the loop is grim here, so trying to find that mojo and keep up with fellow bloggers. Flipping time is the problem…but I guess we all have that pressure so most will understand! My pleasure re chucking up an opportunity out of a general thank you post. Might do it more regularly as connecting with other bloggers is part of why we do this yes?? I’ll try and find you on FB and Twitter too!

        1. I think maybe I will. Not every week, but enough to reach out and make sure anyone I’m connected to can meet up and pass a few words. A reminder that even though time is a true antagonist, I really like my blogging friends and without them I’d probably be rocking in a chair in a dark room humming to myself 👻

    1. You were in mind with the reader apology!! Hoping to put something up this week. What I have in mind is a rehash of an old post before I had many followers so it will expose another plot line. Then it’s back to the brothers 😊 Will try and find a route out as their tale has a long way to go…unless……

      1. No! Don’t even go there! *fetches rarely – seen crystal ball sometimes used in the ancient art of scrying* …..I see a bright future for the crime busting brothers who deal fearlessly and inventively with psychic crimes past and present….
Something will present itself (did you try some Amethyst…) and in the meantime, I shall look forward to your next post
        🙂

        1. Oooh, one of my favourite antagonists uses them…it’s possibly going to present a small cameo in the next post…trying something new in something old.
However, you are into something with the brothers. Their first appearance is solving the current issues surrounding Elisabeth, the Templars and the thing that dwells in the folly. I rather feel their destiny is to at least get that far!

          1. Phew! That’s a relief, for the time being, at any rate! I just feel there are some crimes committed in earthly and spiritual realms crying out for the brothers’ own particular brand of justice. ..
Of course you have attention at once with the crystal mention- I’m looking forward to your next post!:)

            1. You angling for not just a short story series but a book series??? Lol. Oddly, with feedback here it seems like there might be a possibility of that. Very unexpected outcome really! Might even use a mention of amethyst next time 😁

  7. I am a twit and have resent stories that chilled or thrilled me..not that i really know what I am doing. Glad to see you haven’t dropped off the edge and have just been percolating. No need to follow unless your sense of humor and/pr protocol is warped. http://www.siziland.net is where my diatribes, rants, stupidities all seem to comingle.

    1. Good lord, it seems such an age since I heardfrom you, or indeed, visited your blog to park a comment. I know I’m following you blogwise, but upon the Twitscape I am entirely uncertain. This warrants further investigation. Lovely to see you again and many thanks for adding your link. 🙃

        1. You know, it never crossed my mind for a moment that was an original anything! Although with my ailing abilities to work Twitting out properly I have many words for said place…except my blog comments must remain free of richer description!!!

            1. Now you mention it, although I hadn’t considered it before…neither have I seen it either!! And not a poorer choice of words, quite the opposite…one must not curse or swear upon blog comment replies out of kindness and respect for better vocabulary lol

              1. Very true! I’ve only ever had 1 curse word, on my comments in 2 years. Thankfully, we have that nice little “approve” button! I was able to edit it out, before publishing. Oh, the power!!

  8. 🙁 I don’t have any of these avenues except Twitter and I don’t know how to use it. (another frowny- face.) I just have my blog and I don’t know how to “link” that. BUT…I am looking forward to more of the story of the brothers! 🙂

    1. Frown not, Twitter is…well…strange…and filled with #hashtags. You are not alone, although a similar catchphrase leaps from some bloke with big hair on the Discovery network talking about aliens 🤔 Blog linking to other social or, if you prefer less frowns, un-social media is relatively easy. The add post page (on the left) has a sharing dialogue box where you can tell WordPress where to send it on publication. One post, one hit publish button and all the linked sites you exist on simultaneously receive said post. I believe (amnesia may have altered recollection) you can set up sharing from the admin dashboard. Obviously this very post was a stalling manoeuvre to detract from fictional posts whilst floundering in the writing department. If it’s followed by equally strange posts then things are going terribly badly and I’ve run out of ideas to get said brothers out of the current predicament 🤔

Thank you for taking the time to comment 😊
