Author: G. Jefferies How time flies, or appears to; relativity in action as it were. A case of find something you hate doing and watch it go backwards. Balance and theoretical consistency is neatly maintained by fast forwards when doing something uber cool. Low level default mind can have the same effect; stealing time and throwing it back out several days later with no real recollection of the bits inbetween. Autopilot as it were, or zombie mind if you prefer a modern take (more on that later) I digress (becoming a theme that) and must begin my reflections on week three of Niki Lopez’s kindness challenge.
Author: G. Jefferies OK, so this is new. Thanks to Rachael Ritchey I started a last five blog battle words bit of fun including this ones ‘surfer’. Alas I had to come up with a new one for this, my inaugural attempt at chucking something totally alien to me. However, in spite of not being able to use The God Strain here, you’ve got an add on. Not sure it works but this will tell me if there’s more than the short story it began with….maybe….
Author: G. Jefferies So, week two of the mindfulness challenge, courtesy of Niki Lopez, already has me nearing a deadline that has appeared from nowhere and dropped me right in it. Why? No idea what to put in this post. Not a very mindful way to begin, but one might consider it could be from the alternate viewpoint of it never being far from my thoughts. This week I’ve been looking for random acts of kindness and that, in turn, has had me thinking other thinks which lead to the title of this non-directional ramble.
Author: G. Jefferies A week ago, although it seems rather longer, Niki Lopez initiated a challenge. Not the sort I’d normally do because it’s one that drags you inside yourself to explore stuff that usually gets boxed up and ignored. Part of that default mind. The one that runs day to day business without too much thinking, well, apart from catastrophising that is.
Author: G. Jefferies Smithy was duplicitous. On the one hand he worked in a state of the art research facility combating rare viral diseases. In the other he was where he was now. Stuffed up; the equivalent of Frankenstein’s monster. The real deal Jekyll or Hyde, take your pick while the world sits on baited breath waiting for the float to sink; buy your front row ticket now while you still can. Shops will be closing and not reopening any time soon.
After posting a short extract from a piece called An Absent Child a few kind readers asked for more concerning the series. This is the first part. Posted two years ago before my blog was similarly swallowed by time. For those who have already trolled back, I apologise, but for those who are new to my writing enjoy or turn and run away. It is not for me to decide what’s good or bad but for you as readers to let me know…and if the latter, why? Author: G. Jefferies She had known something was amiss on the day her husband, Albert, gave a tour of the newly acquired property. Things moved in her peripheral vision but always ceased to exist when she turned to look directly. Then there was the smell; very faint and not always there. A scent that reminded her of lavender and something else that she couldn’t quite put her finger on.
